Now the install with 2.5" pipes should be no more than $200-$300 max. So all in all it's gonna cost me $260 in parts. X-pipe is $30 on eBay and a set of dual chrome tips are $70. I already bought 2 Super 44's for $160 which included shipping. The other thing that attracts me is the price point. The Super 44 in particular makes a great low aggressive rumbling sound. I know its not the norm to install Flowmasters on an Audi but I personally like the sound they create. Got the idea from a Youtube video with what I believe was an S4 hooked up with Super 44's. Most AWE and Milltek exhaust will put you close to or over $2000 after install. So out the door its gonna be about $500 for a custom exhaust with 2.5" piping. Why would you put muscle car mufflers on your audi? i have super 40s on my charger and they sound badass but I don't think our v6 on these cars would sound nearly as good with those. Not sure how much it would cost to have 2.5 inch piping done but a muffler swap would be 80-140 depending on the shop and an x pipe should be an hour of labor tops if you supply the part
And that's just my educated guess, they are two completely different engines so I can only hope it sounds good on the S. I'm just worried about how raspy it'll sound because that charger had a bit of rasp higher up in the rpms and our cars are kinda raspy to begin with so it may not sound that great.
Your point about the low rumble of our motors makes a good case for this setup so at idle and low rpm id imagine it would sound pretty good, dare I say almost v8/milltek like. Curious how that compares.The pentastar v6 is more high strung so it opens up at 3.5k and at wot/ high rpm I'll admit it sounded pretty good for a v6 (keep in mind the hemi is what sounds best to me lol). but several folks have commented on the low rumble/"meaty" sound the S has.
